Afanaseva, has a better chance of placing than Komova. She didn't have the best qualification. Russia prob had Komova drop out just so Russia could get another medal. The Russians are known for pulling fake injuries or something is wrong with the athlete last minute.

wow, Aly really did perform almost flawlessly on the Beam, I totally would have expected her to medal... Let's hope for floor! ;-)

PriscillaMoore @gymnastike" Komova's face when Nabieva's score came up was ADORABLE and she was clearly the class of the finals. "

Well, duh Komova finally got her gold medal!!!! She doesn't need to make an Ass of herself this time!!!

VIKTORIA IS WORLD UNEVEN BAR CHAMPION! Congrats! She gets her gold. :) Nabieva got silver, and Huang bronze. It was so cute and amazing seeing Nabieva and Komova react to their silver and gold medals. So happy for them! :)

My previous post regarding Shushunova not being the reigning '87 Worlds AA Champion going into the Olympics (Aurelia Dobre of Romania holds that title) was meant for @ Double_Front in reply to his/her post on this subject.

Margaret Tudor 2 years ago

Thanks again so very much for the PBP! Just one thing-Shushunova was not the last Olympic AA Champion to win Worlds the year before. The 1987 World AA Champion is Aurelia Dobre or Romania. Shusunova won her one and only AA title in a tie with Oksana Omelianchik in 1985. Shushunova was the silver medallist in 1987 with Daniela Silivas of Romania taking the bronze. Before Podkopayeva only Ludmilla Tourischeva was the reigning World AA Champion going into the 1972 Olympics which she also won.

Why aren't the videos visible in other countries any more?

I'm happy for Jordyn, really. She has worked so hard to get where she is, and it was definitely touching to see her in tears from happiness and disbelief from the win, especially because you usually never see her show anything but smiles. But my heart broke for Komova watching her reaction to being second, and by such a small margin. I'm no judge, but I do think she may have been underscored on floor. (Never been a huge fan of this year's routine from her, but to each his own.) To be fair to Jordyn, though, she has no control over what score the judges give her and the other gymnasts. She had a couple errors to prove that yes, she's human! But overall, she did perform reasonably well. I'm very happy for her, and I want Komova to have her shining moment in the bars and beam finals.

That last gymnast from China to go should not have gotten a 14.7 to beat Aly. She certainly should not have gotten that much higher of a score than Kamova. China was over scored for that floor and Aly should have scored higher than Jordyn on Floor. Aly should have been awarded the Bronze!!!!!
