who says nastia is comming back???

Savannah 2 years ago

It's crazy to think that Nastia, Alicia, Chellsie, Shawn and Bridget are still all training elite with the intention of going to the Olympics in 2012. The only one from the 2008 Olympic Team who isn't elite is Sam!

Holy Hell Nastia is coming back for 2012!!! i can not explain my excitement. Shawn, Alicia and Nastia 2012

these girls did an amazing job and yes maroney's avg is a 15.083 because her first vault was an amanar and she is the best in the world at that vault and scored a 15.533.

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

2 per country rule for the AA too. So, Douglas just misses out.

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

I was just to write the same thing about how these girls placed. They did a great job. So does Wieber, raisman, and Douglas all qualify for AA or is it only 2 like events???

Eifos 2 years ago

Unbelievable. USA has its 5 team-members all in the all-around top 10 (after this rotation)!
1. Wieber 60.032
3. Raisman 58.432
4. Douglas 57.657
7. Vega 56.665
9 Maroney 56.332

There are still 3 subdivisions left but all 5 of the US gymnast finished in the top 10 all-around (so far). AMAZING!

who won qualification for team, aa, and individual events?

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

That must be a mistake! On the fig website it says she scoreg an 15.083 average which puts her in 1 ahead of chuso

Ian 2 years ago

You posted Maroney's average on vault as a 14.633, but the FIG live score page has her average as a 15.033, above Chusovitina. Of course, the live score page isn't always reliable, so it's probably incorrect.

M. 2 years ago

@T No, it's the score for the second vault. Her average is 15.083.

T 2 years ago

Was Maroney's 2nd vault score really that low to receive that average?

T 2 years ago

Did Maroney really score that low on her 2nd vault to receive that average?

Is anyone else excited for all the talented younger gymnasts? As much as I love Shawn and am glad she is back
I hope we get a new crop of gymnasts not all these older girls just trying to hang on-Bridget, Nastia, etc. The younger girls are so much more fun to watch and look like they are having more fun.

I'm really surprised Liukin let bross do the DTY. She clearly was not getting it around or bending her knees too make it around. She should have just sat vault out or done a FTY. Since she hasen't competed in a year it was probably good for her to be out there but just not on vault.... such a waste...WOGA is usually good at not letting the girls compete skills when there are not ready. It was clear she wasent ready on vault so Im really dissapointed liuking allowed her to do that and didn't opt to just play it safe.....now we just lost our strongest bar worker in the process.

Any update on Bross since the dislocated knee cap? I am so, so sad for her. She's my favorite, and fingers crossed she gets back to training quickly. Bross for gold 2012!

Krystina...who is Anne going to influence with her on-line speculation about Rebecca's medical condition??..Marta? Her Coach? potential college coaches (assuming Rebecca doesn't go pro), potential commercial sponsors?...none of these people are not going to be influenced or make major decisions about her future based on a gymnastics fan based website...but I agree you are entitled to your opinion without getting slammed...

Krystina 2 years ago

For your information, my auto-complete corrected the spelling of my name & I didn't realize it, nor that it had posted twice (I thought it hadn't worked the first time). I am ALSO entitled to my own opinion, & I was mentioning that someone posting live updates to a very large audience should maybe be a bit more careful about what they are suggesting by their posts because (& in turn realize how they can be perceived), again, they are in a position of influence where a lot of people could, due to their posting, be automatically assuming the worst which is definitely not good for anyone, especially Rebecca. While yes she can say what she wants, I just did not think it appropriate for her to be posting speculation immediately when she knew no information (& I know what a torn ACL looks like too because I have done it TWICE myself)...I am allowed to believe & say what I want (if I was mistaken in that, then there should be rules posted on here that you are only allowed to post if you agree with what is being said).
