LET THE ELECTIONS BEGIN!
Cancun (MEX) / FIG Office, October 25, 2012: Over two full days of debate, members of the FIG Executive Committee worked down the order of the day presented to them before turning their attention to the election of FIG authorities, the high point of the 79th General Assembly to be held October 25 – 27, 2012 in the resort town of Cancun, Mexico.
The second day was largely devoted to the electoral process and to the respect of current statutory norms. Executive members gave their full attention to the information provided by Mr André Gossin, attorney-at-law and FIG legal advisor, to this effect.
Congressists also touched on the Federation’s financial situation, which is currently stable as a result of healthy financial markets; thus a positive forecast for the 2012 fiscal year.
In his conclusion, FIG President Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA) thanked his colleges on the Executive Board, expressing his hopes that the outcome of the General Assembly would be satisfying for everyone involved and would further the development of gymnastics and the diversity embraced by it.: Mireille Ganzin (FRA) was elected Aerobic TC President for the 2013-2016 Olympic cycle with 90 votes.
