In this week's gymnastics technique video, Coach Jim Stephenson expands on the drill you saw in part 1 of the video. They have a traveling rig connected to a twisting belt set up above their trampoline. Jim takes us through the drills they're able to do on the station to teach all types of vaults: yurchenkos, tsukaharas, and even handspring entry vaults. The biggest advantage of a drill like this is that it's low impact for the gymnast meaning they can do high reps of them without the pounding on their bodies.

This setup would not be really beneficial to the guys. The setup is basically only for air awareness which is only a very small part of the yurchenko. Most of the guys are past working full twisting yurchenko's and onto double's or two and a half's.

great concept. theres so much you could do with this

Are the guys allowed to use this too?

cool. seems like it would be good for those with fear on vault to build up some muscle memory

I've seen this done from the tramp onto a vault and into a pit, but not with the spotting belt. That adds a whole new element to it. Makes it feel more like real vaulting I bet
