John Orozco just completed a seriously impressive meet at the 2009 Visa Championships. Being just 16 years old, John was competing in the junior division but has qualified to compete with the seniors on Friday night and has a legitimate shot at making the US Senior Team. Even with a few mistakes, John put 3 points on the rest of the field with an all-around total of 86.850 and won event titles on every event but vault, where he debuted a new vault.
By the way, this wouldn't fit within event media the time restrictions of the interview, but John says he is leaning toward the NCAA Gymnastics route and is looking at Ohio State and Penn State so far. I would love to see this kid tear it up in the NCAA!

I think that is one of the issues we have...in the last sentence he said. He is telling the truth...but it is something that keeps Marta up at night. The general issue is that the difference between an Olympian and a non-Olympian is MUCH bigger in prestige than the difference between good performance and bad at the Olys. So we have the phenomenon in women's gym where girls are clawing all over each other to get on the team...than flubbing afterwards. Look at Pezzek for instance. She's an Olympian. But did nothing.
Did he mess up vault? ;)
hahahaha love your facial expressions john!! great job im stilla lil mad bout the results..their not ready for u datz all...hahaha cya in da gym monday!
John, you are incredibly awesome both as a gymnast and a person. I wish you the best of luck in your gymnastics career and in achieving any and all of your future goals! keep smiling :]
Great job John!! You're amazing and an inspitation to anyone wanting to do gymnastics! Can't wait to see you again at the gym!-Taylor
John your humility is only topped by your prowess in competition. Way to go you stud!
Congrats, John! Don't be so tough on yourself. :) Ha, he's so adorable.
He was awesome today, go John...:)
Don't sweat the small stuff Johnny!
