Coach Jason Hebert talks about some loopholes in the recent changes to the men's code, especially on the kovacs and pirouetting moves on high bar, and talks about the pros and cons of the recent implementation of video replay in high level gymnastics judging.

The video replay according to the rules can only be used for the E judges when the difference between the four counting scores is higher than the tolerated deviation or if the average is significantly higher or lower than the final score from the apparatus supervisor. I don´t know how it was working in London if it was slowing things down or not. In my opinion it should only be the apparatus supervisor and the D judges that can look at it and I thought that that´s how it is done now.
Then on the high bar, as I agree that it is almost impossible to get away with out at least a 0.1 deduction on full piruetting skills to el grip. I think it has more to do with the thickness of the bar itself than shoulder flexibility, many guys are very flexible and yet very strong. It is much easier to balance in handstand in el grip on a women´s bar.

I really wish they would get rid of the replay unless someone asks for it. Like in football.
