After being denied a spot on the National team with an injury at the 2009 US Championships, former OU gymnast Chris Brooks surprised a lot of people with his dominating performance at the 2010 Winter Cup. Chris put up a large lead over the rest of the field after the Thursday preliminary round and capitalized on the opportunity with another great competition in the finals. He won the meet and was easily renamed to the US Senior National Team. Chris talks about his performance this past weekend at Winter Cup and goals now that he's back on National Team.

I watched them all. Really appreciate you doing them. I would comment on them, but I am such a troll...it might be better if I just run silent...

Check out the post-Winter Cup video of Steve Legendre that we just put up, I asked him to explain the points system because I am baffled by it! I figure most of the gymnasts who are used to it can explain it better to more casual observers or less-informed/knowledgable viewers like myself! Always learning more :)

The point system works as follows: The top 10 on each event get points with 1st place getting 11 points 2nd- 10 points 3rd- 9 points then 4th-7 points they skip 8 point mark to give the 10th place person 1 point. I hope that helps. I believe there is a description of how this works on the mens pages at usa-gymnastics.org.

Also, can anyone direct me to a discussion of the points system? I've searched and can't find it.

On topic, it's really great that he came back like this. good to see that he can keep up with Horton and Legendre and the young pups. After getting on clearly, then dropping off, then getting on again so convincingly, I'm sure that he has turned heads and that USAG sees him as a talent to develop.

however, I'm actually kind of concerned that he and the rest of US gymnasts (absent Horton) really lack international experience and perspective on what it takes to compete with the elite of elite. We should have the Chinese and Japanese in the gunsights...and I'm just not seeing that.

Thanks for getting this video up.

I'm interested in a little more strategic and technical discussion. One thing I liked about the Paul Hamm interviews and the discussion on Making the Olympics was that he actually shared what his scores were, how they compared to others, where he was weak or strong, his strategy with A and B scores, etc.
The question on the upgrades was good, but also appreciate more in that vein.
