USA Championships Flash Back Friday Fan Pick #3 is the 1998 US National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. This competition featured a mixture of veteran olympians and up and coming stars. Parkettes gymnast Kristen Maloney captured her first National title while 92 Olympic Veteran and former world champion Kim Zmeskal made her comeback onto the national team. This National Championship had its fair share of great gymnastics combined with some dramatic story-lines.

The answer was the Hamm family with Paul and Morgan in the mens competition and their sister and former Florida Gator Betsy in the Women's competition

Maloney is coaching at Iowa State for the 2011-2012 season. She's the comeback queen and could potentially help Shawn out a lot with her comeback if they decide to team-up.

Shawn Johnson is training a full twisting double layout. Maybe Maloney can help her master it for 2012 now that she is in Iowa.

Dominique Moceanu was amazing. And Vanessa Atler on floor and vault was just sublime! Tragic that girl never got to use the new vaulting table. And tragic her coaches had her doing that type of bar routine.

Dominique was Amazing! Vanessa's floor work was sublime! I wish I could see some gymnast today do those punch fronts to huge pretty stag leaps.
