Over the past few years, Chris Burdette of Texas Dreams Gymnastics has traveled the country giving a lecture called "Raw Ambition" and was nice enough to share the videos with us here at gymnastike. Here is the 3rd of 4 videos in the series. Since the filming of this video 4 years ago, Chelsea has successfully made a name for herself amongst the elite of the USA National team and is currently in the running for the 2010 USA World Championships team. She has also committed to compete for the University of Georgia.

"Would like to see a new in depth interview on this kid 4 years later -- after making the Jr National team and Sr National Team." |

Texas Dreams is special. You feel a sense of "Family" in the whole gym. These girls support each other at all levels. Not only has Kim and Chris played an important role in creating that atmosphere, but so has Chelsea. IChelsea's teammates are so proud of her and are rooting for her every step of the way. Chelsea is one of a kind---her generosity, caring, determination, big heart, great attitude, givingness, maturity, ability to to go beyond....is what makes her unique and special. Gymnastics is not what made Chelsea, but Chelsea did make gymnastics a part of her. We love Chelsea and Texas Dreams very much and wish all the very best!!! |

"Obstacles knock this kid down, and she gets back up. The goal is to be the best she can be -- that's not always THE best of all, but in the end, 'no regrets'. She knows she has tried and given it her best effort, day in and day out. That's her current philosophy; to not look back years from now and say "I could have tried harder" - there is no years from now -- there is today, the moment." |

Anna: Part of the video Chelsea is talking about having teammates there and that pushes her, because she constantly wants to be better than them. The other part, she did mention how she felt like some others were waiting for her to fail, but I took it in the same vein as the first comment. She uses it as motivation. Rivalry is not always negative. Technically, Chelsea has no other "teammates" per say at Texas Dreams because she is the only Senior Elite, so no one else is currently out on the floor with her. All the kids in this group of videos train in the top group at TD making them teammates. & they all really love and support each other from what I know. |

so im sensing a theme in the videos of negativity from teammates at this gym.. gena mentions her friends saying shes a bad gymnast.. she can't do this. chelsea talks about her gymnasts sorta kickin her when shes down.. getting ahead. how do other gyms avoid this kind of negativity or rivalry between teammates? |

Chelsea's definitely had a rough go of it, way too many injuries. I love her gymnastics, her form and execution are excellent, she's really a joy to watch. It's been so nice seeing her back competing this year at Classics and Nationals. I really hope she makes the world team, she deserves it. Go Chelsea! |
