Lauren Mitchell was the final competitor up in today's World Championships Floor Final. The score to beat was Aliya Mustafina and Diana Cheralu's 14.766. Lauren hit her routine and it was good enough for the gold medal, scoring a 14.833. Here is an interview with Lauren fresh off receiving her new gold medal.

She was LAST (to perform), not lost... therefore she went to the back warm-up gym rather than sit on the sidelines for 30+ minutes while the first 5 to 7 girls competed and waited for their scores.

What does she mean when she says "She got lost and went back to the warm-up gym"? Did she literally get lost? Haha

Sweet girl and clearly better than Chelaru (who should have been 5th, what a mess) or Musty. But not as good as Raisman or Ferrari.

She knew that was not really a very good routine. I just expect more for an EF winner. Look at how the men roll (not just difficulty but execution).

And before anyone blathers about her higher difficulty or "ranking" of E scores, the problem was that all the E scores for women were bunched 8.9 t 9.1 despite clear differences of more. WTF is going on with E scoring on women's FX?

Meme is started...mwahahaha.

I do see everyones points, I agree that there is something about lauren that is very sloppy looking, I can't put my finger on why I don't like her style, but I don't. that said, I am not saying she didn't earn her medal, she just doesn't have the quality that I like in a gymnast.

I also think that aly definitely earned a spot on the podium and it's ridiculous that she wasn't.

" With over a 9.0 E score, the judges don't seem to think her artistry is that bad."

That's over a 9.0 E score while having very good form and sticking almost every landing. I guarantee you the bulk of those deductions were for her leaps and her lack of expression. I mean, the artistry you can only deduct for once. I'm just saying they did deduct for it. I have nothing against Raisman, don't get me wrong, but even she recognizes that her routine is lacking artistic oomph. There are also pictures of Martha and Alicia working with her during training on her dance/choreography and being more elegant during it.

She's so cute... She seems really sweet. Yay for Lauren!

She is a great gymnast. You can tell she is a sweet , modest girl. She also is like a dork though , the way she laughs and her expression

Lauren totally deserved to win the gold medal! She had the best routine today.

I think an argument could be made for Aly to have scored better than Chelaru or Mustafina, but she doesn't have the D score to really challenge for the gold medal. A 5.5 won't cut it when other girls have 5.9s.

To RML - Aly had the 2nd highest E score behind Ferrari, so her form isn't that bad. She's admitted that her leaps need work, but she was very clean today. With over a 9.0 E score, the judges don't seem to think her artistry is that bad.

Lol haters. You mad?

Lauren deserved gold. She had good difficulty and fewer errors than the others at the top. Raisman lost because she had lower difficulty and she likely took artistry deductions for having all the expression of a cardboard cutout. And before it becomes a meme, she said she didn't think it was that good/good enough to go into first because 1) Lauren knows she can do better and she HAS and hasn't been rewarded for it in the past because she's wearing the wrong leo, and 2) Lauren didn't SEE what the others had done to get the scores they did and so obviously assumed that Mustafina, for instance, hit better than she did.

lauren definitely deserved gold way more than mustafina and chelaru did. although she wasn't perfect, the two 2nd place finishers had more obvious mistakes. aly had very good execution but her difficulty was 0.2 lower which IS a factor when it comes to a worlds EF. Sui lu gave her medal chances away by downgrading her 2nd pass from a front layout to front pike, and not finishing the 720 turn. lauren had just the right balance of execution and difficulty so she won. congrats lauren!

Okay guys really? Obviously she won the gold and earned it. No one deserves a medal they have to earn it and Lauren obviously earned it.. so stop with the rude comments.

AUSTRALIA IS SO PROUD OF YOU LAUREN! Nobody's going to take this gold from you! You're a superstar and an inspiration to gymnasts across Australia.

I don't think anyone should have gotten gold other then aly. and to nastiafan you are clearly a psycho.

Lauren is great! you need to stop hating. I happy she won! I always thought the Australians had talent.

Oh shut up, she was cleaner than the rest of the medalists. She deserved gold way more than Mustafina or Chelaru did.

she is so sloppy to watch. I know people will disagree but when I watch her she is just sloppy and gumby looking. even she knows she didn't deserve to be on the podium. and the gross hunched over arch she does before each tumbling pass on floor and beam is atrocious!
