I think she looks super solid and I'm really really excited to see what else she has in store, but her arms drive me bananas....it's the simple things like finishing a turn with your arms still up, not dropping them or going from one pose to the next without letting your arms just dangle there. DETAILS are what make the difference!! I hope she was just doing this as it was a practice and wouldn't compete it so carelessly

aly really should get more credit for her beam, it is SO consistent, clean, and packed with difficulty.

sadly, these leaps are better. makes you wonder what is going on in the gym. is this really that hard to fix? it makes the us look incompetent. just saying, russia would never send a gymnast to worlds looking like that.

Actually, they did. Myzdrikova's switchÂ½ is far worse than Aly's and Mustafina who also trains/plans to compete it looks fug.
VERY impressive work though! She's solid as a rock! I could see a couple of upgrades (add another BHS or a Korbut flip out of the back layout) but she should make the 2011 team no problem.

her flexibility is improving a lot. and did anyone see bridget do a BHS layout - 2feet on floor in the background? I hope shes training that for beam!!!!!!

Yeah it's still pretty icky but that's how it should be done. In the CoP, it wants the gymnast to do the switch split leap then the 1/2 turn. She's just kind of slow at it.

@ gymfan, i agree. i never saw a gymnast with this "stupid" (sorry) technique for a switch half. i think if she change the technique she does it even better.

how SOLID! I think Aly can possibly add another BHS to her BHS+layout series to get another 0.1 in difficulty. her switch half has improved but i think she should change the technique for the leap. right now she does the split leap first and has to rush the half turn right after she hits split, and that's why her hips are always not square. she should try learning how to do the half turn first and then reach the split position.

I agree her lines/jumps do look a little better. It also looks like that is sloan on the floor in the background doing a BHS to layout two feet, wonder if she's added this to her beam set since she is working it on a line?
