As teams around the country prepare for Regional and National Championships, Gymnastike's Workout Wednesday will be taking a trip around the country with bonus Workout videos leading up to the Championships! Today we step inside a training session with the only collegiate gymnastics team in Texas, the the Pioneers of Texas Woman's University.

This weekend, three TWU gymnasts - senior Rashonda Cannie, sophomore Courtney Cochefski and freshman Kayla Jones - have been selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Regional Championships. The three Pioneers will compete as individuals in all-around, bars and vault respectively. TWU freshman Spencer Jones was also selected as an alternate in the all-around competition. They'll travel to the Champaign Regional in hopes of qualifying to NCAA Nationals as an individual competitor. Then the following weekend, the team is back together for the USAG Collegiate National Championships where TWU will be one of the favorites to win and hope to bring yet another title home to Texas.

Hey Mary,
I am not sure how the USAG Collegiate Nationals got started but it consists of 7 DI and 5 DII schools. The top 8 school based on RQS compete to be part of the top 4 and compete for the Championship. The top 8 this year are TWU, Bridgeport, Centenary, William and Mary, Pennsylvania, Air Force, Seattle Pacific, and Temple. It also includes Brown, Cornell, Southern Connecticut and West Chester.

great video!

I have a question...
It says above that they will compete at the USAG Nationals. What exactly is that, and which teams compete there? Is it for division 2 or something?
