The University of Alabama rolled into Nationals with a young team that was peaking at just the right time. They had won the SEC Championship title, the NCAA Regional title, and were ranked #1 heading into Cleveland. Tonight they started out with a commanding performance on vault, totaling a 49.575, the highest event total of any team tonight. This included 9.95's from both Kayla Hoffman and Diandra Milliner. On bars they scored 49.275 with a 9.925 from Kayla Hoffman. They went to beam and put up 5 solid routine including a 9.95 from freshman Kim Jacob and fortunately got to drop an uncharacteristic fall from Kayla Hoffman. Alabama had the lead going into the final event and went 6 for 6 on floor capped off by a 9.925 for Geralen Stack-Eaton and a 9.95 from Kayla Hoffman in her final routine for the team. They won the competition by just under 3 tenths of a point. UCLA finished 2nd with 197.375 and OU third with 197.250. This is the 5th National Championship title for Sarah Patterson and the Crimson Tide.
