Yes, you absolutely can do gymnastics later in life. At our recent meet at Capital, the oldest competitor was 50, and we had a good sized contingent of competitors in their 40s, including some who were new to gymnastics. Hope you continue to enjoy gymnastics now and in the future!

Jarel of Gymkana has a little mishap while demonstrating his switch leap after his exhibition routine at the adult gymnastics meet at Capital in Burke, VA on October 1, 2011. Luckily, Jarel was just fine despite his unfortunate landing!
Thanks, anonymous! Although it's not quite like seeing it live, you can check out http://www.gymnastike.org/coverage/239756-Adult-Gymnastics-Meet-Capital-Gymnastics-Burke-VA-October-1-2011 to catch the recent adult meet at Capital Gymnastics in Burke, VA, on 10/1/11. In addition to featuring Jarel's beam blooper, this page contains nearly every routine from the meet, interviews with competitors and coaches, results, march-in and the national anthem, post-meet handstand contests, and more. To my knowledge, this is the most comprehensive online coverage of an adult meet ever. Our adult gymnastics page also lists other adult meets around the country, as well as training videos, adult gymnast intros, and much more: http://www.gymnastike.org/page/adult-gymnastics.
Glad you enjoyed the video! He did beam as an exhibition, so he didn't have a score, but it was an adult meet, so all the scores were pretty generous :)
Good question! Jarel performs on beam as part of Gymkana, an exhibition gymnastics/acro troupe at the University of Maryland. He performed a great exhibition beam routine during the adult meet (including a standing layout stepout!): http://www.gymnastike.org/coverage/239756-Adult-Gymnastics-Meet-Capital-Gymnastics-Burke-VA-October-1-2011/video/508411-Gymkana-Jarel-exhibition. This video was taken when someone asked to see his leap, which he'd done beautifully earlier in practice.
