It appears that many seem to confuse artistic with balletic. Komova is no more artistic than Jordyn. Each gymnast has fantastic technique and their own distinct artistic style. Jordyn had an obvious mistake and Komova had more small mistakes that, believe it or not, add up. If you think Komova was robbed, prove it with YOUR deductions. Komova was never promised a medal. I do understand her reaction. I'm a musician and have been in hundreds of pressure situations where things just didn’t work out. Losing something you work really hard for is tough and I’ve cried a dozen times. Sooner or later you grow up. Success comes with knowing that happiness is short lived if winning doesn't happen in an honorable fashion. Moments pass, but attitude will always carry on, whether you win or lose. Everyone learns this eventually. Komova just got a taste of this lesson with a camera in her face. This debate about who should or shouldn't have won is just ridiculous. Komova has worked her whole life, but so has Jordyn. Watching either of these two compete without the other wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable.

2011, Tokyo, Japan, FIG Gymnastics World Championship, with a bit of a surprising low score for Komova (RUS), the American Champ Wieber wins the championship by .033, the 6th USA win.
its a classic Khorkina situatuon. No smile, no friendly interactions, and of course taking off the silver medal after walking away. winning the silver world all around is a huge thing. Jordan had two minor mistakes (fall out on bars, step out on floor) with a much larger start value lead, Komova had a minor mistake (spin fallout on floor) with a much smaller start value. Of course it would come close, but there is no need to act like that when the facts are there.
