David Sender, 2008 USA National Champion, back for a shot at the 2012 Olympic Team
David Sender is back! After closing out his gymnastics career at the 2009 Visa Championships, Sender began veterinary school at the University of Illinois. He's since had a change of heart and has decided to take a year off of school to train for the 2012 Olympic Games. Sender competed January 14th in the Windy City Invite which is his first competition since 2009. He talks about what brought him back to the sport, how his training is going with coach Justin Spring, and his first competition in years.

USA National team member Brandon Wynn talks to Gymnastike after competing in the Pineapple Classic hosted by Buffalo Grove Gymnastics at the Schamburg Convention Center. Brandon talks about his experience at the 2011 Pan American Games where he won the rings title, how is training is going and what his plans are over the next 6 months leading up to the Olympic selection. Brandon Wynn was an NCAA National Champion for Ohio State, a member of the 2010 World Championships team, and member of the 2011 Pan American Games team.

2004 Olympic All Around Champion Paul Hamm competed 4 events in today's Winter Cup Challenge, his first meet since the 2008 Olympic Trials. Aside from a 15.40 for a nice yurchenko half on, front lay out full off vault to score a 15.40, Hamm struggled on his other events. He talks about how he feels about today's competition and his goals moving forward.

CJ Maestas pre Winter Cup thoughts
CJ Maestas is a current member of the US Senior National Team and in his freshman season at the University of Illinois. Maestas is one of the top young guys on the team and already has a few NCAA all around titles under his belt. This weekend, he'll head to Las Vegas with his national team teammates with the hopes of being renamed to the National Team and positioning himself for a spot on the 2012 USA Olympic Team.
John Orozco Battles Back to Lead All Around for Day 1 of Winter Cup 2012
2011 World Team member came into Winter Cup as one of the favorites and despite a fall on high bar, he leads after day one of two in Las Vegas. Orozco finished the day with an impressive 89.350 all around score highlighted by a 15.30 pommel horse score (2nd overall) and a 15.40 on parallel bars (4th overall). Orozco hit a great handspring double full vault in the final rotation to score a 15.60 and overtake the all around leader from session one, Chris Brooks.

Chris Brooks Leads the 2012 Winter Cup All Around after session 1 of 2
Chris Brooks of Cypress Academy is came into today's Winter Cup Challenge, the first big meet of the Olympic year, as the 2011 World Team Alternate. Feeling the need to prove himself to the national staff, Brooks competed all around. Despite a fall early in his pommel horse routine, Brooks leads the all around standings after one of two preliminary sessions with an 89.20
Comeback of the Meet, David Sender is Back on National Team
David Sender was the 2008 US National Champion but suffered an injury during the 2008 Olympic Trials which ultimately kept him off the Beijing Olympic Team. Sender retired from the sport after the 2009 Visa Championships where he was crowned vault champion with a tsuakahara double pike to pursue veterinary school. Feeling the need to give the Olympics one last shot, Sender has committed himself to a comeback for the 2012 season. Winter Cup was just his 2nd meet back in nearly 2.5 years. His first meet back was the rement Windy City Invitational where he was awarded Gymnastike Stick of the Week.

John Orozco Wins Winter Cup!
John Orozco performed cleanly on all six events to win the 2012 Winter Cup Challenge all-around, parallel bars and horizontal bar titles. Orozco topped the all-around standings with a two-day total of 180.700 and has made a strong statement for himself in the Olympic year.

Yul Moldauer, Competing a Kovacs at age 15!
Yul Moldauer is a member of the USA Gymnastics age 14-15 junior national team, and he easily qualified to the Winter Cup Finals to compete with the big boys in Vegas. Moldauer stood out with his big high bar routine which included a kovacs and a triple twisting double layout, the most difficult dismount thrown in the competition!
