I'll start with a well put to Jason from Gymnastike on all points but if the results had Aly in 3rd after the team qualifier, sadly I doubt the rule would be in question. What if The World Championship we're different? Oh my and judging, please do not get me started. Well I shall say a little something on each point.Let me start with Sports-we have football and the "Greatest Show on Turf" the Rams were beat by the they do not have a chance New England Patriots. We have the Miami Heat with what was said to have the best players in the world assembled who lost to a bunch of old guys last year. You have not once but twice the team that it is impossible for them to loss in the Superbowl, New England Patriots loss to the big time underdog New York Giants. Each time they had the best QB but lost and the QB did well. In SPORTS, anything can happen always especially when it comes down to tenths, judges, referees, clocks etc.We have Aly in the middle of this whole craziness, how does she feel, what is the talk doing to her thoughts. Does she develop into someone crushed even though she just went out and did what she does time and time again(HIT SOLID) because people view her as the one who caused the World Champ to miss AA finals thanks to a rule. How about this those unhappy with the "rule"'let us know who wanted the rule changed after Romania went 1-2-3 You would hope not certain countries and think for sure smaller countries would want the rule in order to compete and justify the high cost of sending their athletes. On 2nd thought the spirit of the Olympic Games may not matter, yet I continue to wonder what Aly feels as people continue to say poor Jordan. Then we have World Championships and the AA finals, that drama turned out in Jordan's favor. Do we remember what happened? Also not to far away in 4th was Aly who since then has put in the similar work to make improvements on vault, bars and floor. When you look at the top AA, the difference between scores of 58.1-61.1 can range from a sweet amanar to hit bar sets or a no wobble beam to a floor routine that has proper landings and good execution. Then their is judging, what to say but with the range of deductions elite judges can take, gee whiz. A step is .1 but oh could be .3 and a hop is .1 or .3 or you have .5 1.0 This is the 1 thing noticed at the completion of the team qualifier, the top girls had scores similar to what they score. Also those with improvements the additional tenths still equal what happens to them. Look back at international competitions, not US only events. Finally do I agree with the " rule" yes because it is the rule I understood going into competition. Should it change, I would say make a blanket rule for all sports i.e. track, swimming, gymnastics etc.The Olympic Motto/Creed-"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph bit the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

Anne Phillips from Gymnastike breaks down the Women's Qualifying and the Drama behind Wieber fourth place performance and her failure to qualify for the All-Around Finals.
Yes Mark and Anne you are correct the 2 per country rule was implemented after the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Sydney brought on several changes to gymnastics and the rules like the change to the vault table and the 3 up 3 count format. In terms of the 2 person rule it is a complete shame that Jordyn won't have an opportunity to become the first world champion to win the olympic AA since Lilia Podkopayeva in 1996 which ironically is the last time USA won the team title as well. However would there be any talk of 3 gymnast rule had it been Gabby and Jordyn moving on .... I doubt it!This is the first time this rule really has come into play at the Olympics however had Chellsie Memmel not gotten hurt during training in Beijing we may have had a different Olympic Champion and another All Around contender outside of the mix looking in.Jordyn however will come back strong on tuesday and I feel will have a Kim Zmeskal 1992 Team Final like performance and show that she is still one of the best in world on a team that is the best in the world.
