CoverGirl Classic

The CoverGirl Classic is the first major national competition in the women's elite gymnastics season. The Classic serves as the final qualifying event for the Visa Championships, which is USA Gymnastics' annual national championship.
The CoverGirl Classic has two levels of competition: the International Elite Division, with junior and senior competition; and the US Challenge Division, for up-and-coming elite gymnasts.

Formerly known as the U.S. Classic, the CoverGirl Classic is known for having a highly competitive field featuring many top gymnasts. Last year's event featured 2010 World Championships medalists Alicia Sacramone, Rebecca Bross, Bridget Sloan, Mattie Larson, Alexandra Raisman and Mackenzie Caquatto. Other past competitors champions of this event include 2008 Olympic medallists Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, and Samantha Peszek, and 2009 World Championships medalists Ivana Hong and Kayla Williams. The reigning junior all around champion is Jordyn Wieber and the defending senior all around Champion is Mattie Larson.

This CoverGirl Classic 2011 meet is sure to offer more of the same, as a long list of America's top elite gymnasts are set to compete. The junior and senior elites will take to the floor Saturday, July 23rd at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The US Challenge competitors will compete both Friday the 22nd and Sunday the 24th. The current USA Gymnastics National Team members expected to compete include Bross, Sacramone, Raisman, Wieber, Katelyn Ohashi, Lexie Priessman, Amanda Jetter, Kyla Ross, and many more, but the highlight of the event will likely be the comeback of 2008 Olympians Shawn Johnson and Chellsie Memmel

The Classic is your first opportunity to get an inside look as the top US gymnasts compete their new routines and upgraded skills before the Visa Championships and the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo.
