World Gymnastics Championships

The World Gymnastics Championships is the most important elite gymnastics event every year. The competition occurs in non-Olympic years and serves as the qualifying competition to the Olympic Games.
In Rotterdam 2010 we saw the revival of the Russian women's team, and the domination of Aliya Mustafina and Kohei Uchimura. Uchimura will have a chance to win a third straight World Championship All Around title in front of a home crowd. Other highlights from 2010 included the comeback and vault gold medal performance by US Olympian Alicia Sacramone, the gorgeous balance beam victory of Anna Porgras, the emergence of Philipp Boy and team Germany, the consistent domination of the Chinese men, and the crazy combinations in Beth Tweddle's bar routine that won her the gold for Great Britain.

This World Championships 2011 meet is sure to offer more of the same, as a long list of the world's very elite are set to compete for World titles and the opportunity to qualify to the Olympic Games. Make sure to check out last year's coverage of the World Championships. Scroll through results, watch podium training videos, browse photos, or view interviews from your favorite gymnasts from the 2010 Worlds.
