I saw a major gymnastics meet in the Seattle area in March 2012. Wish I kept my roster sheet. Was Komova there? Was very impressed by a junior Russian gymnast that looked a lot like her:)

Viktoria Komova of Russia was 1st all around on the qualification day of the Tokyo World Championships, but fell short in tonight's all around Final. It was a heated battle until the final rotation with fellow first year senior Jordyn Wieber of the United States. Komova lost the gold to Wieber by the slightest margin, 0.033 tenths of a point.

Im proud of jorydan! But this little russian girl shouldnt be sad shes in 2nd in the world?! :)
Wieber did deserve to win this period. She was better on vault, beam and floor. Komova was only better on bars. People dont know this code well enough to understand the difficulty score fully and also what the deductions are for various errors. As a result people assume Komova should have won when they dont have the knowledge to back it up. Komova gave away a lot on beam (bobbles on everything pretty much) and floor and for some reason people are forgetting small errors can really add up. Congrats Jordan!
