This week's gymnastics workout video features the 2011 World silver medalists and 2010 World Champions, Team Russia. Gymnastike takes you inside their training session in Tokyo, just 24 hours before the 2011 World Championships Team Final where the finished 2nd behind Team USA.

The Russians had a successful World Championships but were not totally satisfied with how they fared in Tokyo. First year senior Viktoria Komova led the team with high start values and beautiful artistry but fell just short of the all around gold, finishing less than a tenth behind Jordyn Wieber for the silver. Komova went on to dominate the uneven bars final, her best event, and claimed the World title with teammate Tatiana Nabieva winning the silver. The fifth and final medal won by the Russians in Tokyo was a gold medal on floor for team veteran Ksenia Afanasyeva.

Gymnasts in this video: Viktoria Komova, Tatiana Nabieva, Ksenia Afanasyeva, Yulia Inshina, Yulia Belokobylskaya, and team alterante Alyona Polyan. Head coach is Alexander Alexandrov.

Does anyone have an idea how much weight elite gymnasts like Komova can bench press? Komova has to be really powerful in order to perform the way she does, but I've seen that she weighs less than 80 pounds, so I was just wondering how that translates into a max bench press.

So I know this is really not the point, but does anyone know the name of this song? I love it!

Wow... defeat is written all over Komovas face. Her body language is that of defeat and carelessness.

Am i the only one that looks at Komova and see's a girl in pain? the fact that both her ankles are wrapped is disturbing to me.

Take it none of you are from Europe?. Its A LOT different to America. Europeans are very reserved, its a completly different culture here and just because we aren't all preppy and smiley like you guys doesn't mean we have bad attitudes its just the way we are. Most Europeans find Americans very fake and smiley so I guess it goes both ways.

well her coach said she ins't the sweetest/easiest to work with

Komova doesn't fight for her landings at all & then goes & pouts when she takes a fall instead of getting right back up on the beam- "any other gymnast" would NOT do that. I'm sure it's just for attention but she still looks like a nightmare to work with.

Why is everyone judging Komova so harshly? She's 16 years old!! I would think that showing frustration and disappointment during a training session is normal or at least better than being lazy and not putting any effort in it at all.

I wish the training hall videos had more warmup/ basics/conditioning in them.

Nice Workout Wednesday. The girls looked great. Komova's bars are to die for.

Saw a bit of that famous Komova attitude shining through when things didn't go her way in workout though.

it's just how she comes off, instead of looking determined and focused or happy she looks bored almost. just with her shoulders always drooping and such. just what i see.

Her body language showing her frustration makes it look like she has a bad attitude. I was a senior international elite and our coach would put up with that during practice, but you just dont show that during a meet.

Why do you think she has a bad attitude? I don't think she was doing anything other gymnasts don't do when they fall off the beam or bars. At one point, she was smiling and laughing. At another point she was playing with another girl who was messing up her hair. Maybe reading too much into it?

komova just looks like she has the worst attitude. the dynamic of the russian and US teams are just so different.
