Komova may have nice lines, but the fact that she is ALWAYS tentative and wobbly is a huge issue. Who cares how "artistic" you are if you shake like a bowlful of jelly during the entire routine? Throughout her career, she has shown very little "fight" on beam; she basically gives up after making an error. That doesn't bode well for her future

Allison, I agree about the unfortunate juxtaposition between Komova's talent/beautiful form and her lack of mental toughness. If you ever want to show a young gymnast the contrast between staying tight and not, you can play the videos of Komova here and at Worlds -- she visibly lets herself go loose when she is frustrated. It is unusual to see such a talented elite gymnast pop in and out of competition mode like that. And unless she is able to develop her mental edge, it will be her undoing, in spite of her physical talents.

I meant that as a good thing - they really help to add to her extension and lines, and make her beautiful toe point even more noticeable, (for comparison, similar to Courtney McCool). She is such talented a gymnast, we are rarely blessed to watch someone so beautiful. However; I do not think she had an attitude of a champion, and the girl who will fight for the win is usually the girl that gets the gold. That 20 second pause speaks volumes about her confidence...

Allison Wow! Can't believe you are talking about her "large feet". Those "large feet" are for sticking landings k, so don't be jealous cause you can't stick landings alright!

I don't care how hard your dismount is - no WORLD CLASS GYMNAST should have a 20+ second break of dead space in their beam routine at a competition. CHAMPIONS don't give up. I feel that Vika already has.

Beautiful gymnast, lovely skills, unusually large feet and nice toes give the illusion of even longer lines but a poor attitude. Not for me, even when the gymnastics is perfect.

v i agree with both of you. her switch leap could've just been a little balance check but instead she starts rubbing her hands together and makes it look a lot worse.

I agree with gymnastics fan under me

If they're off or have a balance check, they act as if it's nothing and no one sees them or something. HELLO, YOU'RE AT COMPETITION, make good habits for covers.. it will suck for you when you do that at the Olympics.
Other the other hand... her lines and that routine is beautiful. The Russians have a much better look than the Americans.vTheir feet and knees are so nice and stretched, it really just enhances their routines.

I'm just not a fan of any of their attitudes. They're gymnastics is beautiful, but they way they don't fight for their skills and such, rubs off wrong to me.

yup, she's done patterson's before

Wow new dismount! Despite the wobbles, she looks so much better than she did at worlds! I am impressed

Whoa! Did she do Patterson dismounts before her ankle surgeries or is this a new thing for her? I never would've guess she was powerful enough!
