This week's gymnastics workout video features one of the most legendary gymnastics programs in the world, Team Romania and coach Octavian Belu. This workout was filmed in Tokyo just 24 hours before the 2011 World Championships Team Final where Romania finished in fourth.

Despite having high expectations coming into Tokyo, the Romanian team left without a single medal. Their eyes are firmly set on the 2012 London Olympics and getting reigning Olympic floor champion Sandra Izbasa healthy. 2004 Olympic beam and floor Champion Catalina Ponor began training just six months prior to the World Championships and looked fantastic in Tokyo. She will likely lead the team in London.

Gymnasts in this video: Catalina Ponor, Ana Porgras (2010 World Beam Champion), Diana Chelaru, Diana Bulimar, Raluca Haidu, and Amelia Racea.

Octavian Belu has been a coach of the Romanian women's team since the Karolyi's departed in the early 1980s and became the head coach in 1990. After the loss of the Karolyi's, many had doubts about the Romanian team. However, Belu was able to capitalize on their successes and make the Romanians an even more well-known team in international competition. He was inducted to the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in May 2009.

Belu has led the Romanian women to many successes including dozens of World and Olympic medals. The Romanian women were the 2000 and 2004 Olympic team champions. Romanian Simona Amanar was the 2000 all around Olympic champion and Catalina Ponor won the balance beam and floor exercise titles at the 2004 Olympics.

At the 2011 World Championships, the Romanian team placed fourth.
