Did you know that before WOGA co-founder Yevgeny Marchenko coached Carly Patterson to Olympic fame he was a 5-time World Champion in Acrobatic gymnastics? And did you know Acro is actually really fun to watch?

Before coming to cover the Region 3 Acro Championships, I did not fully appreciate - or understand - acro gymnastics, and I'm sure most other gymnasts have felt the same way. So, I thought I'd let Yevgeny fill us in.

Yevgeny Marchenko is co-founder of WOGA and coach of 2004 Olympic Champion Carly Patterson. He was a National Team Coach from 1999-2007. He was named International Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004, and was a USOC Coach of the year Finalist in 2004.
Before coaching artistic gymnastics, Yevgeny was a five-time World Champion, four-time European Champion, and National USSR Champion in Sport Acrobatics.
