Samantha Shapiro was a member of the US National Team from 2006-2011 and was a member of the TOPs National Team from 2002 - 2004. As a club gymnast, Sam trained at All Olympia (AOGC) in Los Angeles under Galina Marinova and Arthur Akopyan. She now is a competitive gymnast for Stanford and will be in her sophomore season for 2012-2013.
At the 2007 Visa Championships, Sam won the beam title and placed second in the all around, on bars and floor. Still as a junior in 2008, Sam won balance beam and uneven bars and placed second in the all around at the Visa Championships. At the 2008 Gymnix International in Montreal, Sam captured the all around, beam, and bars titles. At the 2008 Pac Rim Championships, she won bars and placed second in the all around. She also won bars at the 2009 World Cup in Montreal.
At the 2010 senior Visa Championships, Sam placed 5th on floor, 7th in the all around, 7th on beam, and 9th on bars. She was also chosen to compete at the 2010 World Team selection camp.
