Coach Mary Lee Tracy sprung onto the elite gymnastics scene in the early 90's with an up-and-coming Amanda Borden. In 1996, Mary Lee coached her first two gymnasts to the Olympic team, Amanda Borden and Jaycie Phelps. The girls went down in history as they became the first USA team to win the Olympic team title. After the success in 1996, Mary Lee established herself as one of the top elite gymnastics coaches in the United States and prospective Olympians flocked to her gym in Ohio. Mary Lee touched the lives of numerous elite gymnasts since that time, but as a young coach, these gymnasts also molded her. Mary Lee Tracy talks about the athletes throughout the years who taught her the biggest lessons.

I'd love to hear more about her time with Kim Zemeskal in her come back, and Dominique M.'s time with her! :) Mary Lee seems like one of those very likeable coaches/people!

I would have loved to hear even more thoughts from this amazing coach. about some other gymnasts not as recognized. I always wanted to know her opinion about Bianca Flohr. I was a HUGE fan of her.

Does anyone know what Morgan White is doing now? She was always one of my favorites from that generation

Love listening to Mary Lee. She's incredibly honest and obviously not full of herself. Very real and down to earth.

Wow! she said did say Jaycie was moron. Lol... thats crazy! She also said some of her athletes hated her too WOW! smh... I do have mad respect Mary Lee though. My fav gymnast of hers from 2000 eara was Morgan White

Wow, did she just saying Jaycie was a moron? Wow, kinda harsh.

Love this! I've been coaching for a couple years now and grew up watching all of the gymnasts in this video. I love hearing this from Mary Lee's perspective. Jennie Thompson was one of my favorites - one of the most underrated US gymnasts in my opinion

Great video! She is so forthright and honest and her stories are so very interesting. I love the footage you got with her. Thanks Gymnastike!

I would love a series like this - interviewing elite coaches about their athletes past and present. I'm not sure it would work with every coach, though. I really think it is a combination Mary Lee's personality and her past and present athletes that make these videos so fun and engaging.
