Steven is a member of the US Senior Men's National Team and finished his last season with The University of Oklahoma in 2011.

Steven competed for the first time in 2012 at the Winter Cup, where placed second all around, winning both the vault and floor exercise. He performs the difficult Dragulescu vault (handspring-double front half). At the 2012 Visa Championships, Legendre ended up in 10th and took home the silver medal on floor, along with a 6th place finish on vault. He advanced to the Olympic Trials in San Jose.

He is a 12-time All American; he earned the honor four times on Floor Exercise, three times on Vault, twice on High Bar and three times in the All Around. Lengendre was the 2008 NCAA Vault champion and the 2009 NCAA All Around and Vault champion. Additionally, Legendre won 3 straight NCAA Floor Exercise titles from 2008-2010.

Before competing for OU, Legendre trained at WOGA with coach Yuri Kartsev. Lendgre has competed at the Visa Championships since 2005 and was a member of the 2009 and 2010 US Men's World Teams.

At the beginning of 2011, he was chosen to be a member of the Hilton HHonors team which is a group of male gymnasts sponsored and supported by Hilton Worldwide. In 2011, Steven has represented the United States internationally at the Stella Zakharova Cup, the World Cup and the Japan Cup. At the 2011 Winter Cup Challenge, he placed 4th on vault and at the 2011 Visa Championships he placed 2nd on Floor Exercise and Vault and 6th on High Bar and in the All Around. Steven was a member of the 2011 US Men's World Team that competed in Tokyo, Japan. The US men placed 3rd, missing the silver medal by only .01. Additionally, Legendre qualified for the floor final at this competition.
