Miles Avery is the Head Coach of the Ohio State men's program. He's been part of the OSU coaching staff since 1989, and Head Coach since 1998. Coach Avery has had success coaching at both the collegiate level and internationally. For starters, he's been the Assistant Coach for the US Olympic team 4 times now (1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008). He's also the personal coach for the Hamm twins, as well as 3-time Olympian Blaine Wilson.
Avery has won numerous awards throughout his coaching career: He was voted USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2008, NCAA Coach of the Year in 2001, Central Region Coach of the Year in ‘02, ’05, ’07 and has won five Big Ten coaching honors (‘01,’02, ’05, ’06, ’07) in his career.
As a gymnast, Avery was part of the US National team from 1981-84. He competed for Temple University where he was a two-year captain and three-time most valuable gymnast.
