I spotted the two Olympic champions. Since this is a Texas state meet, it was basically down to a certain group of people - and, sure enough - I spotted two from that group.

Texas is this huge, booming, gymnastics state - it has been since the early/mid-'80s. It is a travesty that none of the Texas universities have a gymnastics team. It would be nice if the state's flagship university, at the very least, had a gymnastics team. They make boatloads of money off the football team, the (potential) fan-support is there....what is the problem?? What a shame that all of those hundreds/thousands of Texas gymnasts have no in-state options for college gymnastics. The rat race for getting one of those in-state scholarships would practically be equivalent to the competitiveness of a Texas beauty pageant - but at least gymnasts would have more well-deserved opportunities for a gymnastics scholarship.
If the University of Arkansas was able to start a women's gymnastics program here recently - I don't see why the University of Texas cannot.
On another note - I also spotted Evgeny Marchenko in this video. I don't think I'd seen that man in years.
