What's the difference between an aerial roundoff from two feet (5.509) and a front piked 1/2 (5.611)?

Very solid set, great work Chellsie, glad to see you're back and enjoying gymnastics :)

Very solid routine. I'll admit- I'm impressed. Not the biggest chellsie fan but can't argue with a routine like that. It's just... those hand flicks... they kill me hah but they seem to have gotten better and with powerful/solid tumbling/landings like that I guess i can look past it. Hopefully she'll bring this confidence to the meet today!

Here's another try:

There's no bonus for dismounts with only two acrobatic elements. And I think she doesn't do a front piked with half turn, but a free aerial round-off take off from 2 feet which is an E element. The straddle pike full is a C element and the acro series is worth 0.2.
side plance B / split jump A + wolf jump A / free aerial round-off piked from 2 feet E / free walkover D + straddle pike with full turn C (+0.1) / arabian F / illusion turn D / front tuck D + back-handspring step-out B + back layout step-out C (+0.2) / switch leap with half turn D / round-off B + double piked dismount E
acro: F+E+E+D+D
dance: D+D+C
= 3.5 + 0.3 (connection) + 2.5 (composition) = 6.3
And once again, if there are still mistakes, please correct me!

Anon- I believe a popa has a D value, not a C. Also, the front tuck-bhs-lo gets .2 in connection rather than .1. Everything else looks right so she may have a 6.6 D score. Could someone else confirm that?

Yes, a turn is required and the illusion fulfills that requirement.

I am going tomorrow! So excited.

I'm just a casual observer of gymnastics, and fairly new even to that, so forgive the ignorant question - are turns not a required skill on the beam? I guess I had assumed they must be now, since everyone seems to do them, and almost all seem to struggle. She doesn't have a full (or more) turn in this routine though, unless I missed something? Does the illusion turn fulfill the requirement?

Or, if there is no such requirement, why do so many competitors have turns in their routines when they tend to look so sloppy?

One word........AMAZING!!!!

I'm not sure I analyzed it correctly, but I think this would be a start value of 6.4? Someone wanna double check?
B, A+A, F, D+C (+.1), F, D, D+B+C (+.1), D, B+E (+.1)
Acrobatic: F+F+E+D+D
Dance: D+D+C
=3.6 + .3 (connection) + 2.5 (composition)= 6. 4

Looks like she never left the sport! Very nice routine. Great new front aerial-popa combo as well. Hopefully she gets a little more confident with it so she doesn't get deducted for those long pauses and going overtime. Otherwise looked fantastic and I can't wait to see the rest of her routines!

Mute works fine 2 years ago

Nice routine, very confidently performed. I think she's going to turn some heads this weekend.

Thank god it's just as easy to watch on mute. Surely there are other ways for the girls to be supportive than just repeating "Come on, Chells" & "You got it" over and over and over...

Nice routine! Excited to see her in competition again. And Chad, that's a white whine if I've ever heard one.

None of these videos ever work on my iPad. Very sad.
