You often see yamawakis in level 10/elite high bar routines, but to our knowledge, one has never been competed by a female on uneven bars. The release is quite similar to a Khorkina release on uneven bars, so after struggling with the Khorkina, Capital men's coach, Carlos Vasquez, suggested Sylive try this. If she competes it, she should be the first female to do so and could get the skill named after her on uneven bars.

It is nice to see gymnasts work new skills and I'm all for it but people are correct here her front giants have some form issues....
If the front giant had better form her momentum would be better setting up for that release...she's great though and the criticism is only constructive.

people need to chill. she's just playing around with something new in summer training, and it's clear that she JUST started working them. besides on the update that she's doing a voronin now....which aren't easy for girls either. they're not going to look just like the mens anyways....it's difficult for girls.....but at this point it was something new, so i think this is so awesome

That be pretty cool if she did it. However she really does need to fix her giant..also the way she is going into it. What is the point in doint a straddle front giant, STOP, than bail to front giant with lets together haha. If i were the coach i personally would get get to learn front giants with leg together first, than at least 2 consecutive front giant without the stops, AND only than is worth trying to throw in the yamawaki. Anyways i am sure the coach has plan...just my opinion..

Her legs are bent, promise she'd get deducted for that, I'm an elite judge and I know what I'm talking about. Just letting her know so she can fix them before competition.

and her front giants are good .. has anyone ever noticed that not everyone's legs hyper extend like nastias .. her gym is very good with basics and she has good front giants.

the shaposh 1/1 girl (Chelsea Coleman) has long since retired from the sport

make sure you give us an update when she catches it! you should interview the girl that does a khorkina + 1/2 turn or the one who does the shaposh full twist

No offense but she really needs to work on those front giants. It's great that she is trying such a cool skill but her basics are really lacking. She needs to learn a front giant with straight legs. Anyway, thanks for sharing nonetheless.

I'd love to see updates on this...what's the next step...it's very interesting.

Agreed! More coaches need to think outside the box. Seems like the skills are limited by the mind set at times.
