Erinn Dooley was a member of the USA National Team from 1997-2000 and trained alongside numerous top elites at Hill's Gymnastics under coach Kelli Hill. She went on to compete for the University of Florida where she was a 7-time All American. She is now back in the collegiate gymnastics world as an assistant coach for the University of Maryland. Here is part 1 of our interview with Erinn during our visit to Maryland. She reflects on her elite gymnastics career and talks about being part of the Olympic training group who attended the first ever USA Gymnastics training camp at the Karolyi Ranch in Texas. The national team training camps have since evolved into a successful system with proven results, but at the time of their initiation the camps were less than perfect and it was difficult for many involved to adjust to the changes.
