Our next Beyond the Routine series features senior national team member Mykayla Skinner. Everyone who knows Mykayla describes her as a daredevil for her lack of fear and willingness to throw the big skills. While Mykayla has struggled with form, she has been working hard on her flexibility and it has paid off. Martha Karolyi is recognizing her as one of the best of Team USA and Mykayla is ready to prove that to the world.

Episode 1 premieres Tuesday, July 29.

Mykayla Skinner is a senior international elite gymnast who trains at Desert Lights Gymnastics in Arizona where she is coached by Lisa Spini. Mykayla is a verbal commit to the University of Utah.

Mykayla is the first woman to compete a double twisting double layout on the floor exercise doing so at the 2013 Desert Lights Fiesta Bowl Invitational.

Mykayla competed in the 2012 Visa Championship finishing 3rd on the vault and 15th in the all around competition (Sr. Division).

In 2011, won the American Classic all around title as well as finishing second on the vault and floor exercise. Qualified to the 2011 Visa Championships finishing second on the vault and tenth all around. She was named to the U.S. Junior National Team.

Competed in the 2010 Covergirl Classic and Visa Championship.
