This single skill was added to the JO Code of points and named after Aja by the Junior Olympic Technical Committee Following JO Nationals. From the committee notes: |

It's a single skill the same way other flight elements are single skills even though they come from circling elements. There's no such thing as half a weiler the same way there's no such thing as half a giant. The circling element that comes before a flight skill or pirouette is included with the flight or pirouette as one skill, not a connection of two skills. |

A wonderful connection to be sure, but a connection of two skills nonetheless. Using the finishing motion of one element to initiate the next is smart mechanics but no more than a connection. If not then round-off flic on floor, split jump back tuck on beam and kip cast handstand on bars should be single elements as well. |

I don't think it has been mentioned yet but Aja successfully competed this skill at JO Nationals so it will be officially know as the "Sims". She was 4th on bars 9.475, 6th on beam 9.450. 7th on floor 9.500, and 4th all-around to earn a spot on the JO National Team in the Junior C age division. |

To be clear a Weiler according to the JO code starts from "a near handstand" and finishes in handstand and a Comaneci starts in front support. Since you being the Comaneci before you finish the Weiler is must be one skill, and has been evaluated by the JO technical committee as so. If it were two skills it would be like saying a Comaneci is two skills a cast & a Comaneci salto. |

our girl did this in 1983Really? If that were the case why isn't int recognized in the code. Funny thing is no girls did a weiler kip in 1983. If you are saying your girl did a front hip circle to comaneci that sounds plausible but of course is totally different since it would be two separate skills a front hip circle (an A) and a comaneci (an E). This of course is a weiler (a D) and a comaneci (an E) and is by description of the those skills has to be a single new skill. |
