Former US National Champion Kristie Phillips takes us back to the 1988 Olympic Year. Kristie moved from Karoyli's to Scats only to return to Karolyi's just weeks before the Olympic Selection process started. She talks about why she left and what motivated her to return to Karolyi's.

My idol growing up! A great gymnast, a great coach, and a great person!! Got to meet her last year at a competition. My girls were in the same squad as hers. I was so excited, I was like a little kid! :)

Great hearing her perpsective on the 1988 Championships and Trials. I was heartbroken for her at the time as it seemed like such a cruel turn of events for her not to make the team. So glad to hear her story and the positive lessons she pulls from her life in gymnastics. It could not have been easy being the "It girl" and she handled it with such class. Also LOVE that she returned to the sport some years later and really did an amazing job coming back. Go Kristie!
